3 Reasons to Lead with Truth

by | Jun 25, 2019

I really strive to lead with truth in both my personal life and my business. I used to try to portray an image of perfection, but have learned over the years that showing people what lies underneath the surface can be a real opportunity to strengthen relationships and improve my life.

Here are just a few reasons why.

  1. It’s easier. Not only do you not need to keep track of all of the untruths, but for me having other people knowing my truth helps me relax. Before I went public with my story, I always wondered what people did or didn’t know, and the secrets weighed me down. As the truth has gone out into the world, life is easier and lighter!
  2. It builds deeper connections. Truth gives us connection. People want to know our stories and connect on an authentic level. Even in the workplace, the more open and honest you are with other people, the better you’ll be able to connect and communicate.
  3. You don’t need the whole truth. Give key information and let people ask questions. You don’t need to pour your whole heart out to everyone you meet. That would be exhausting for everyone! Lead with as much truth as feels right to you, and see where it leads.

To hear even more about how I led with truth in my personal life, watch this video from NBC15. I would love to hear what you think!
