Introducing Thoughtfully Fit®!

You guys! I am really excited. Christmas morning when you think Santa might bring you a bike excited. Taco Tuesday excited.

After all these years of studying, coaching, reading, teaching, training, consulting, more reading, listening, and learning, it has all come to this. To what you ask? Well, I am finally connecting the dots and realizing that so much of what I offer as a coach centers around shifting your mindset. What does this mean? Embracing, or at least accepting, the fact that you are in control of your own life. And the more you acknowledge that and make conscious choices about what you want that life to look like, the better off you’ll be. But what I have also figured out is that you don’t always need a coach to help you find your path—you can be your own inner coach!

The truth is, we don’t live in vacuums. All day we interact with people, and the world, in ways that are both wonderful and infuriating. But what I have learned is if you focus ONLY on what you can control, and move through the world intentionally as the best version of yourself, it makes all of those actions and interactions easier.

Darcy, what on earth are you talking about?!

What I am talking about is something I am calling Thoughtfully Fit®. Just like being physically fit, it isn’t something that just happens. It’s something you need to work for. But once you work for it, you’ll find that it makes a lot of things easier. It makes life choices easier. It makes your relationships easier. It makes figuring out what you want easier.

Over the next several months we’ll go in-depth into what being Thoughtfully Fit® means, and what you need to do to practice and start to shift your mindset. Basically, after all these years of coaching, which is based on a core concept that you are the expert in your own life, I am ready to help show you how to do just that. How to coach yourself to better outcomes and greater fulfillment!

No more excuses

I am guessing many of you read those first couple of paragraphs and are already crafting a list of reasons why you aren’t actually in charge of your own life. We all tell ourselves stories about how if x happened, then we could be happy, or we can’t do what we really want because of someone or something else standing in our way. I say baloney! This is like saying you’re too out of shape to exercise. What I am so looking forward to sharing are the small steps you can take every day that will eventually lead to big leaps down the road.

I can’t wait to start providing you with some great tools and insights that will help all this make sense and will help you start to feel more in control of your life.

Step one—easy peasy!

While truly being Thoughtfully Fit® requires a lot of practice and hard work, I am going to introduce you to the core of the model.

Pause. Think. Act.

There it is! Did you miss it?

Pause. Think. Act.

It really is that simple. If, in either our daily interactions or in the pondering of big choices, we take the time to pause and think, the resulting action can be more intentional. And we are more likely to reach our desired outcomes. I know it sounds crazy, but trust me: it works! I have seen it so many times with my life coaching clients, and in my own life too—particularly in the last year that presented some unusually big personal challenges.

My challenge to you for this month is: the next time you feel yourself on the verge of reacting to something, pause. Take a minute to breathe, to think about what you want the outcome to be, and then act accordingly. Sit on that email to your boss until tomorrow. Wait to return your sister-in-law’s call until you feel more calm. And then, see if you don’t arrive at a different course of action than you might have initially. I am looking forward to a great year of exploring Thoughtfully Fit with all of you! Stay tuned to future newsletters which will have lots of tips and tools. If you haven’t already subscribed, you can do that here so you don’t miss anything.

So now can you see what all my excitement is about?! Who’s with me? Here’s to being Thoughtfully Fit in 2017!

There’s so much more to share. But for now, I’m off to have a taco…

Cheers,
Darcy
