An Unlikely Home for Thoughtfully Fit

When I was first invited to the Denver Women’s Correctional Facility, I was excited about the opportunity to bring Thoughtfully Fit to them. But as the time got closer, I started to worry. This is a level five maximum-security prison where many of the inmates were serving life sentences, sometimes without parole.

What did I know about speaking to women in prison? Would they even care about Thoughtfully Fit?

It Always Comes Back to Your Core

As I was preparing for my trip, I knew I had to practice what I preach! It was time for me to PAUSE and THINK about what I needed to make the most of this unique opportunity. I mustered my courage, spent extra time developing my presentation, and flew to Denver early so I could tour the prison the day before in order to calm my nerves and meet some of the women inmates who had organized this and invited me to speak to them.

The women were amazingly welcoming, and I was so glad to be able to share a couple of days with them. They cemented for me that the Thoughtfully Fit core really can help you live more intentionally – no matter where life currently finds you.

See Behind the Scenes

Watch my recent Facebook live to hear all about how I got ready and what the experience was like. And if you want to see behind the scenes footage of my actual visit, check out this video that one of the male inmates videotaped and edited (he did a fantastic job!).

I hope this inspires you to continue to bring Thoughtfully Fit into your life, no matter the circumstance. Thank you for being on this journey with me!
